Kelly and I have been working on our next book, Sarah the Star and I am in the sketching stage of my illustrations.

Today, I was working on drawing of a lead character, Mark, set in a library, researching.

*What do you think the Dewey Decimal section, in this image, is about?

The sketch brought on memories of my public library, growing up in Eastern Tennessee. Oh, I can remember the library book smell. I borrowed so many Dr. Suess books. I read and reread Where the Sidewalk Ends. I poured over the arts and crafts books. I checked out music books to practice my piano with. My brother and I read all the Cam Janssen and the Mystery of the ...... books we could get our hands on. I read my first YA novel there, A Gift of Magic, about a little girl discovering her magical powers, inherited by her grandmother.

Later on, I started volunteering in the children's library. The librarians recognized my artistic talent and let me work on the window displays. I could go on, but my point is, what a wonderful experience reading can be for children! Libraries are a great place for your child to explore their own personal interests. Support your local libraries!

Here is a picture of my old public library. I can't believe they still have those awesome chairs and tables!

"Oh Frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!" is what i scream out in my head when a day like this comes! The quote is from my favorite Lewis Carroll poem, "Jabberwocky".

Evie and Knox Stories is excited today because we are celebrating the release of our new Man in the Moon Video! You can watch the video here. It is about 2 little sisters reading a bedtime story to eachother. At the end, they are too tired to read and their loving dad picks up the last paragraph of the story. Throughout the video, you can see closeups of the illustrations with some animation in special places!

The adorable little voices reading to eachother will melt your heart.

We have many thanks to shout out for the making of this video. Kelly and David Silverman, from Cake Baby Productions, worked very hard in producing, directing and acting in the movie. Timothy Glover did the videography and color correction. Skylar and Ariel Jones are the sweet sibling actors. I tried my hand a animation. It was a labor of love and we hope you enjoy the result as much as we do! Thank you for stopping by!

As a mother who spends a lot of time coloring with the rascal, it's nice to have my very own coloring book with more appealing pictures and a little more challenge then the simple character profiles a typical toddler coloring book offers.

As an illustrator, I appreciate the unique style the artist has. It's not your typical adult coloring book. There are more opportunities to make choices other than just color. Some lines are implied. You can almost "draw" a little in these pictures. The quality of the pages are great. The theme is unique and takes you on a journey, reminding you of every road trip you ever went on.

I colored the picture of the cat and the train. I am really excited to color the cows in a field, but I'm saving the best for last.

Have fun! Don't watch tv, color instead!

"Color the Open Road" is available for $5.99 on Amazon.

We’ve been having a blast this summer visiting bookstores, farmers markets and children’s museums with our fun-filled, sky-themed story time program! It has been such a wonderfully rewarding experience to share Man in the Moon with young readers.

A big thank you to The Book Worm in Powder Springs, The Grant Park Farmers Market (and Grant Park Parents Network), FoxTale Book Shoppe in Woodstock and Imagine it! Children’s Museum of Atlanta for inviting us out.

Each venue added something unique and fun to the event. The kids dove right in to dancing and singing and even interacted with the stories! And of course, no great event is complete without bubbles—which is how we ended each story time. Good times were had by all, young and old!

The summer’s not over yet though. We still have story times planned in August at The Peachtree Road Farmers Market in Buckhead and Smyrna Fresh Produce Market. We’ll be sure to keep you posted about these and all future Evie and Knox Stories events.

If you’re interested in learning more about and/or hosting a story time with us, please send us a message via our contact page.
